How it works
Supporting this project, funding it, means promoting the conservation of this portion of the Amazon forest, a region marked by high rates of deforestation, and of its ecosystems. Thanks to this initiative, the area is constantly monitored through the use of modern and valued technological equipment, but at the same time, various species of fauna and flora are protected, such as the Chiropotes satanas, currently at risk of extinction. Of the mammal and bird species registered in the project area, in fact, eleven deserve special attention because they are on the list of endangered species.
Where does it develop?
The project is developed in Brazil in the state of Pará and protects an area of 29,000 hectares, allowing the capture of 67,458 kg of CO₂ every year.
The certifications
The project has obtained CCB (Climate, Community and Biodiversity) certification from Verra. Maisa protects several animal species, such as the Chiropotes satanas, which are currently at risk of extinction. Of the mammal and bird species registered in the project area, in fact, eleven deserve special attention because they are on the list of endangered species.
Benefits
Maisa REDD+ has made contributions to local communities, thanks to continuous funding, the project has allowed the creation of different jobs and, through the protection of the forest, better economic growth in the area. Often the state of health of the forest reflects the state of well-being of the inhabitants of the area.
