Benefit company

Since January 2016, Italy has introduced benefit corporation which represent an evolution of the classic concept of a company.

While traditional companies are primarily for profit, benefit corporation integrate into their corporate purpose purposes of common benefit designed to have a long-term positive impact on civil society and the environment.

Le benefit corporation are therefore characterized by a dual purpose, but it is not a question of social enterprises or of an evolution of Nonprofit: they are only the positive transformation of business models for a sole purpose of profit.

For become a benefit corporation, a company must meet certain evaluation criteria and adopt a specific legal structure. In addition, the benefit corporation they must prove that they have a positive impact on people and the environment, in addition to providing a financial return to its shareholders.
