Circular economy

The circular economy is a model of production and consumption that promotes the sharing, lending, reuse, repair, reconditioning and recycling of existing materials and products for as long as possible.

This approach lengthens the product lifecycle and minimizes waste. At the end of their useful life, the materials of the products are reintroduced into the production cycle through Recycle, generating additional value.

This model contrasts with thetraditional linear economy, based on”production-consumption-disposal“, where products are discarded at the end of their life cycle. This methodology is no longer sustainable for several reasons:

  1. depletion of resources;
  2. environmental impact;
  3. increasing costs.

The transition to acircular economy, on the other hand, is based on three principles: reduce, recycle and reuse. Reduce the consumption of resources and minimize the production of waste, recycle by recovering materials from products at the end of their life to reintroduce them into the production cycle, reuse or repair products for an extension of their life.

An example may be the creation of new yarns from waste materials or the reconditioning of electronic devices.
